The Friars Are Rolling

The San Diego Padres picked up a split of a four-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks that kept the Friars one game out of an NL wild-card position. Steve Drumwright, with Randy Holt on the injured list this week, recaps the D'backs series, looks back at taking three of four from the San Francisco Giants and then tries to put it all into perspective with the Houston Astros coming to town. Among the other topics Steve covers is the latest with the comeback attempts by Joe Musgrove and Nick Pivetta and what the new-look rotation might be after the additions of Robbie Ray and Casey Mize. Down in the minors, three draft picks made their pro debuts this week and two hit homers for their first hits. Steve then wraps it up with a look at the Astros series and the pitching matchups, including Ray's debut and a dream matchup.
