Lockridge’s late blast backs Wolf as Chihuahuas tame Rainiers
Box Score
Yonathan Perlaza jump-started El Paso’s offense in the fourth, turning on a Sauryn Lao slider and lining his 12th homer over the right-field wall. The Chihuahuas added more an inning later: Mason McCoy reached on an infield single, dashed home when Cody Roberts’ fielder’s choice grounder skipped past second, and Brandon Lockridge delivered a sacrifice fly for a 3–0 cushion.
Lockridge struck the decisive blow in the seventh. After Forrest Wall’s two-out single, the center-fielder launched a towering two-run shot to left—his second Triple-A homer and third RBI of the afternoon—to push El Paso to a four-run margin. Lockridge finished 2-for-4 with a steal and scored twice; Tim Locastro added three singles and his 12th stolen base, while Nate Mondou and Clay Dungan also swiped bags.
Left-hander Jackson Wolf (3-1) was dominant, scattering four hits and one run across five innings. He fanned nine, issued one walk, and even picked off Samad Taylor at first. Raul Brito followed with a scoreless sixth, and after Harold Chirino was nicked for two runs, Ron Marinaccio stranded the tying pair in the seventh. Eduarniel Núñez closed the door with a scoreless ninth for his fourth save, sealing El Paso’s 5-3 victory.
Acuna’s wheels, bullpen combine for Missions’ four-hit shutout
Box Score
SAN ANTONIO — Francisco Acuna ignited the offense and four San Antonio arms slammed the door in a 2-0 victory Sunday night at Nelson Wolff Stadium.
The shortstop set the tone in the first inning with a single, stole second, and scored on Romeo Sanabria’s line-drive knock. Acuna struck again in the seventh, ripping a double to left-center, swiping third for his 17th steal and cruising in on Brandon Valenzuela’s sacrifice fly. Acuna finished 2-for-4 with two steals and both San Antonio runs, while Sanabria turned in a three-hit night and notched his 41st RBI.
On the mound, left-hander Jagger Haynes scattered two hits over four scoreless innings. Stephen Jones (3-3) followed with two scoreless frames to earn the win before Jake Higginbotham added two more shutout innings. Ethan Routzahn worked around a walk in the ninth, recording the final three outs for his fourth save. The quartet limited Amarillo to four hits and struck out seven.
Kai Murphy chipped in a pair of hits and a stolen base, Marcos Castañon singled, and Anthony Vilar reached twice and nabbed his eighth bag. Left fielder Jacob Campbell added a defensive gem, throwing out a runner at second to quash an early threat.
De Vries’ two-run blast can’t hold up for TinCaps
Box Score
Leo De Vries delivered the afternoon’s biggest swing, but Fort Wayne fell, 7-5, to Lake County at Classic Auto Group Park.
De Vries reached three times, punctuating his day with a two-run homer to right in the fifth that put the TinCaps in front, 4-2. Ryan Jackson followed later in the inning with a run-scoring double to widen the margin.
Fort Wayne’s first runs came an inning earlier when Kai Roberts lined a two-out, two-run single to left-center after three straight walks loaded the bases. Roberts finished 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, and Braedon Karpathios scored twice thanks to three walks. Kaden Hollow collected two of the club’s seven hits.
Left-hander Luis Gutierrez struck out six over 4 1/3 innings, yielding three earned runs. Bodi Rascon followed with 1 2/3 scoreless frames before a throwing error in the sixth allowed Lake County to tie the game. A seventh-inning wild pitch from Sean Barnett (0-1) plated the decisive run, and the Captains tacked on an insurance tally in the eighth off Nick Wissman.
The TinCaps finished 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and were charged with three errors, two of which factored into Lake County runs.
King Jr.’s four-hit attack can’t lift Storm past Rancho Cucamonga
Box Score
Lake Elsinore’s lineup revolved around Lamar King Jr. on Sunday, but the catcher’s showing wasn’t enough in an 11–2 loss at The Diamond.
King Jr. went 4-for-5 and drove in the Storm’s final run with a two-out single in the ninth. Two of his hits were doubles, giving him 24 on the season. Zach Evans also kept the offense moving, reaching base three times and matching King Jr. with a pair of two-baggers. Kale Fountain plated Evans with a groundout in the sixth for Lake Elsinore’s first tally, while Ryan Wilson opened that frame with his 15th double and later scored.
The Storm threatened early when Evans laced a leadoff double in the second, but nothing came of it after a groundout and two strikeouts. Overall, the club finished 2-for-17 with runners in scoring position and left 10 on base.
Right-hander Abraham Parra (2–3) worked five innings, holding the visitors scoreless until a five-run fourth. The bullpen continued the bleeding, allowing an additional six runs over the next two innings.
