Padres Mission can be overwhelming to the uninitiated. Where many sites have blogs, or forums, and sometimes both, Padres Mission’s scope extends far beyond that and offers many fan-specific features you won’t find elsewhere. This guide will walk you through the site and its sections. Padres Mission News: This is the front page of the site, and the place you will find news and analysis from our stable of dedicated Padres writers. You can read and then comment on any article in this section. Notes & Rumors: This section features shorter pieces, including low-impact news such as a minor-league promotion or a brief stint on the injured list, as well as all free agent and trade rumors. This section is hopping in July and December. Padres Mission Forums: These operate much like traditional internet forums (for those of us born in the 1900s). It’s all user-generated content where people are free to talk baseball all day, every day. Unlike many places on the internet, basic human decency is expected and will be enforced. This is a place to talk baseball without the drama and nastiness found elsewhere. User Blogs: These are user-created blogs that look and read much like our front page news, though any Padres Mission user can create their own blog and be read by thousands of like-minded fans! If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at baseball writing, this is the place to do it. You will receive built-in readership from day one, allowing you to hone your craft. Padres Mission Videos: The counterpart to our front-page articles, this is where you will find our multimedia content, both news and analysis. Those are the five largest sections of the site. But we’re only getting started… Guides & Resources: Here, you will find a collection of useful resources, including stadium guides, an introduction to visiting spring training, a history of team ownership, a gift-giving guide, and more. Active Roster & 40-Man Roster: We maintain roster pages for both the 26-man (active) roster and the 40-man roster, updated nightly. Bullpen Usage Chart: Stay on top of bullpen usage with this handy chart that shows reliever usage over the past five days. The Activity Feed: This is a highly customizable page that many users bookmark as their primary launching point into Padres Mission’s content. You can select which content to show and which to ignore, and then save your feed preferences. Top Prospect Rankings: We have a dedicated page featuring the top 20 Padres prospects, which includes brief scouting reports, updated statistics, and recent articles and videos to keep you informed about your favorite prospects. Rank Your Favorite Prospects: Unlike most other publications, Padres Mission involves the community in ranking prospects. We hold open voting a half-dozen times a year, keep an eye open for the next round! 2025 Draft Tracker: Much like the prospect rankings page, we have a draft board that contains scouting reports, signing bonuses, and recent news and analysis for all of the Padres' draft picks. Mock Draft Board: Assembled and maintained by Jamie Cameron, this draft board is a valuable resource for tracking potential draft picks and gauging the industry's collective view of them. It is updated and maintained from April through draft day. Offseason/Trade Deadline Blueprint: Have you always dreamed of becoming an MLB general manager? If so, check out our blueprint page, which is active during July and throughout the winter. Build the Padres roster to your specifications, then share it with other Padres Mission users for discussion. That’s most of what Padres Mission has to offer! If you have any questions or suggestions, you’re welcome to message our community manager, @Brock Beauchamp. Another member of the Padres 2025 draft class, Salina was the team’s fourth-round pick out of St. Bonaventure. The Rochester, NY, native spent a year at George Mason before spending two seasons with the Bonnies. As a starter, he was touching 102 mph with his fastball and has a terrific slider. Unfortunately, he was limited to just four games in 2025 and had Tommy John surgery in April. That means he won’t pitch until the middle or late in 2026.

Balzer signed out of Japan in January of 2023. Instead of playing in the NPB, he signed in the States. However, soon after signing, he had Tommy John surgery. In 2024, he made six appearances in the ACL. Upon his return, he was throwing his fastball between 96 and 100 mph. His sinker sits 93-94 mph. He also has shown the makings of a solid changeup and slider/sweeper. This season in Lake Elsinore, he has pitched in 16 games and 50 innings. He is 1-6 with a 7.92 ERA and has 28 walks to go with 49 strikeouts. The upside is tremendous.

Coronil, 18, is one of eight players in our top 20 who made their professional debuts in 2025. The Venezuela native was a highly sought-after January international free agent. San Diego landed him with a $900,000 signing bonus. MLB.com ranked him 35th in its international prospects top 50. A few months after signing, he saw regular action with Padres Gold in the Dominican Summer League. A big part of his appeal is his reputation as an elite fielder. MLB.com has already assigned him a 65 field grade on the 20-to-80 scouting scale. His four errors in 14 games at shortstop and eight errors in 27 games at third base last year look like the work of a young player at the start of his pro career. His arm, run and hit grades are listed at 50 each, and his power grade is 35. The slug could emerge once he grows into his body; he's listed as 6-3 and 162 pounds. And his running grade might be a bit low after his 8-for-8 on steal attempts. The Padres are famous for rushing young prospects through their system, but they might need to be patient with Coronil after a middling debut.

Acquired along with left-handed starter Nestor Cortes for outfielder Brandon Lockridge at the 2025 trade deadline from the Milwaukee Brewers, Quintana was the No. 12 prospect in the 2024 international signing class by MLB Pipeline. He signed with the Brewers for $1.7 million as the headliner of a class in which Milwaukee also signed Jesus Made and Luis Pena. Quintana hasn't had the meteoric rise that his former teammates have experienced, but remember that he doesn't turn 19 until April 5. He was slashing .264/.349/.403 in 50 games in the Arizona Complex League at the time of the trade and then was assigned to Low-A Lake Elsinore, where he had a .193/.317/.265 slash line in 25 games. He had a combined four homers and 26 stolen bases between the two stops. A switch-hitter who has played shortstop and third base, Quintana is expected to develop power as his body matures (6-foot-2, 183 pounds). With his size, speed, and power potential, Quintana would become a high-end shortstop prospect if his offense develops. All would still play at third base, but that is less of a premium position. Lake Elsinore will probably be his starting point in 2026, but a trip to Fort Wayne is likely at some point during the season.
