Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 Luis Campusano’s three-hit, two-RBI night and Yonathan Perlaza’s game-tying two-run homer powered Triple-A El Paso in a 9-7 slugfest. At Double-A, right-hander Victor Lizarraga fanned six while Francisco Acuna and Moisés Gómez logged the Missions’ only hits in a 5-0 defeat. High-A Fort Wayne walked it off when 19-year-old Leo De Vries ripped a tenth-inning RBI double after Eric Yost’s five sharp frames and Garrett Hawkins’ two perfect innings. Single-A Lake Elsinore cruised 7-0 as Carlos Rodriguez cleared the bases with a fourth-inning triple and Kannon Kemp anchored a six-hit shutout. Padres Transactions No Roster Moves Perlaza’s two-run blast knots it, but Chihuahuas slip late Box Score Luis Campusano jump-started El Paso’s offense in the first, lining an RBI single to center after Brandon Lockridge’s leadoff double. The catcher finished 3-for-5 with a run scored and pushed his RBI total to 50. Down 5-2 in the fourth, Rodolfo Durán punched a two-run single up the middle and later added a bases-loaded walk, giving him three driven in on the night. Yonathan Perlaza provided the loudest swing. After Campusano’s fifth-inning single, the right-fielder crushed his 11th homer into the Cheney Stadium batter’s eye, leveling the contest at 6-6. Perlaza went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, two RBI and a walk, reaching three times. Nate Mondou doubled, singled, walked and was hit by a pitch, touching first base four times, while Mike Brosseau collected three hits and an RBI. Right-hander Logan Gillaspie surrendered six runs over 3 2/3 innings, but a resilient bullpen kept the game close until the sixth, when two runs charged to Kyle Hart (2 1/3 IP, two earned) put Tacoma back in front. Jose Espada fired a scoreless seventh with two strikeouts, and Sean Reynolds limited damage to one run in the eighth. Trailing 9-6 in the ninth, El Paso loaded the bases on Perlaza’s double and two free passes; Durán coaxed another walk to force in a run before a called third strike ended the rally. Despite tallying 14 hits and five walks, the Chihuahuas left 11 men aboard in the 9-7 defeat. Missions bats go silent in shutout at Wolff Box Score San Antonio’s offense never found traction Saturday night, collecting only two singles and a pair of walks in a 5–0 loss at Nelson Wolff Stadium. Francisco Acuna chopped a single through the middle in the third inning and Moisés Gómez lined a base hit to right two frames later, but those brief sparks were quickly extinguished. The Missions finished 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and stranded just three men on base. Right-hander Victor Lizarraga absorbed the defeat despite allowing only two earned runs. The 21-year-old scattered four hits over 4 innings, striking out six against one walk. Two unearned tallies followed a pair of throwing errors by third baseman Devin Ortiz, stretching Amarillo’s lead to 4-0. San Antonio’s bullpen kept the game within reach. José Geraldo spun a clean fifth, Jared Kollar worked 2 1/3 innings and limited the damage to a single run, and Tyson Neighbors struck out three over 1 2/3 scoreless frames to close the night. Together, the relief trio surrendered just three hits and fanned five. At the plate, Romeo Sanabria and Kai Murphy each coaxed walks, giving the Missions four total baserunners. San Antonio was retired in order in five of nine innings, and a seventh-inning double-play ball erased their final threat. The setback drops the Missions to 49-41. De Vries’ tenth-inning double propels TinCaps to 3–2 victory Box Score Fort Wayne needed one more big swing, and shortstop Leo De Vries supplied it. With the automatic runner at second to open the 10th, De Vries ripped a line-drive double to right that chased home Brandon Butterworth for the deciding run. The hit capped a 1-for-4 night for the 19-year-old, who was plunked in the first inning and later notched his 17th double and 41st RBI of the season. The TinCaps built an early 2–0 cushion in the third. Braedon Karpathios singled, advanced on a walk and a sacrifice, then scored on a balk. Moments later Kaden Hollow delivered a two-out RBI single to right. Hollow reached base three times, stole a base and drove in his seventh run. Karpathios finished 2-for-4 with a walk, a steal and a run, accounting for half of Fort Wayne’s four hits. On the mound, right-hander Eric Yost set the tone with five sterling innings. He limited hitters to one single and two walks while striking out five to trim his ERA to 2.69. After a rocky middle frame from Will Varmette, Garrett Hawkins slammed the door, striking out four over two perfect innings for his seventh win against one loss. Butterworth’s 13th stolen base and patient two-walk night led the way, and the TinCaps turned a crisp De Vries-to-Jack Costello double play to help preserve the lead. Fort Wayne finished 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position but made its final chance count. Rodriguez’s bases-clearing triple sparks Storm shutout Box Score Lake Elsinore erupted for seven runs and blanked Rancho Cucamonga behind timely hitting from the middle of the order and five scoreless frames from right-hander Kannon Kemp. Scoreless through three, the Storm loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth. Carlos Rodriguez roped a liner into the right-field corner that emptied the bags for a 3-0 lead. Rodriguez finished 1-for-4 with three RBI, his second triple of the season. An inning later, Cobb Hightower was plunked, swiped second, and dashed home when Kavares Tears banged a double to left-center. Tears added another two-bagger in the eighth, driving in two more runs before Kale Fountain capped the inning with an RBI single. Tears reached base three times, going 2-for-3 with a walk, two doubles, and three RBI. Fountain (1-for-3) was hit by a pitch, stole a base, and knocked in his second run of the year, while Zach Evans singled, walked, and swiped his 11th bag. Hightower crossed the plate three times and matched Evans with two stolen bases, giving him six on the year. Kemp (2-3) scattered five singles over 5 scoreless innings, striking out five without a walk. Bryan Balzer opened with 3 shutout frames, fanning four, and Johan Moreno punched out two in a perfect ninth to seal the six-hit shutout.
