Padres Video
After the wildly popular pink-and-mint City Connect uniforms that reflected the city's vibrant sunsets, the San Diego Padres went a little more stoic while still using colors that pop and maintaining the multicultural vibe.
The Padres were among eight MLB teams that revealed new City Connects for 2026 on Thursday. The theme of this one for the Friars is, as the team posted on social media, "Para nuestra familia, San Diego y los fieles, por siempre. For our family, San Diego, and the Faithful, forever." It also reflects Dia de los Muertos, the traditional Mexican holiday honoring the dead.
The new City Connects will debut Friday in the second game of the weekend series against the Colorado Rockies and will be the regular uniform for Friday home games.
The jerseys are obsidian in color, with bone-colored lettering and accented with marigold, aqua, fireberry, and, of course, Padres gold on the sleeves, lettering, and numbers. The sleeves and pants feature a marigold braid. Across the chest is "San Diego" in a script familiar from the original City Connects.
The colors are "evocative of our vibrant landscape, rich culture, history, and traditions," according to the team.
On one sleeve, depending on whether the player is a right-handed or left-handed hitter or pitcher, is the La Catrina patch with traditional flowers and candles with the Pacific Ocean in the background.
The hat is bone-colored with the well-known interlocking SD, with the S in marigold and D in obsidian. The bill of the cap is also obsidian, and the lining has a vibrant array of flowers. The cap is inspired by the 1998 Padres that made the team's second and most recent appearance in the World Series.
Like the hats, the pants are also bone in color with the same vibrant stripe down the leg that is featured on the sleeves.
The hype video had a solemn tone to it, appropriate for Dia de Los Muertos. There were several Padres who have passed in recent years honored with framed pictures, including the Hall of Fame and Padres legend Tony Gwynn, as well as Peter Seidler. Among the cameos made was from Hall of Fame closer Trevor Hoffman and skateboarding icon Tony Hawk.
Jerseys and other City Connect-related merchandise are on sale now at Petco Park and at the team store at Padres.com.
