  1. That's an interesting point so I went and looked. Sure enough, Bogaerts has a significant Fenway bump but it's nothing compared to some of the biggest stadium splits I've seen. Xander career: .802 OPS Xander Fenway: .870 OPS So his numbers were definitely helped by Boston but it's not an enormous swing, just a big one. Thanks for commenting!
  2. 1. Create Your Blog When you click the Blogs section on the top menu, you'll be taken to a list of most the most recent entries from our community. At the top of this feed you'll see the "Create a Blog" button. Click it and you'll be asked to enter a few high-level details: the title of your blog within the site (i.e., "John's Padres Blog" or something more clever/creative), a brief description, and the category it will belong to (if you're not sure, just pick "General"). To hop on over to the blog index page now, click here. 2. Publish Your First Entry Congrats, you have a blog! Now give people a reason to come check it out. On your blog page, you'll see a red button on the right-hand side, "Add Blog Entry." Click it to draft your content. Here you can either compose within the CMS, or copy-and-paste what you've written elsewhere (Word, Google Doc, notes app, etc.). You'll also be prompted to choose a category for your post (select "Use an existing entry category" and pick the one that fits best, or create a new one). You can either publish immediately or schedule it to go live in the future. 3. Support Your Position with Stats We now support copying and pasting Baseball-Reference and FanGraphs stat tables directly into the site! Just pop on over to this blog and find out how to do it! 4. Tips to Make Your Blog Look Great First, upload an image! Just below the blog entry area, you will see a Featured Photo bar. Grab a photo and drag it into that space, which will upload the image, feature it, and make it more likely your blog will be noticed (and commented on). 5. Promote and Keep Blogging Padres Mission has a naturally built-in audience of passionate Padres fans, so your content will likely get some views on its own. But spread the word! Tell your friends to check it out and share it on your social media profiles. Keep writing regularly to hone your skills and grow your readership. Those who post consistently high-quality content in the blogs often get the opportunity to move up to the (paid) front page.
  3. Arraez is far from an optimized player and we all know that but damn, he's fun to watch.
  4. The Padres need this kind of certainty as some of their other, unwieldy, contracts age into ugliness.
  5. We will update this roughly once a week through the draft. Instead of trying to create yet another mock draft board, our draft expert Jamie Cameron has taken the route of averaging out popular draft boards, trying to reach a "consensus" slot for a player in the aggregate. Additionally, Jamie has a pretty detailed write-up for each draftee. Right now, we have roughly one round of picks up but this will expand every week as Jamie adds more draft slots and write-ups. http://padresmission.com/mlb-baseball-mock-draft-order-2025-san-diego-padres
  6. They should host multiple series in Mexico every year IMO.
  7. Here is a good piece on Twins Daily about them. Bombs Away: Torpedo Bats are Taking Over Major League Baseball - Twins - Twins Daily TWINSDAILY.COM Coming out of left field, torpedo bats are all the rage right now. The bowling pin-shaped bat is a shift from tradition, and is being credited with producing more power. Is the hype real? Who on...
  8. This is an outstanding breakdown of how catchers receive similar pitches, Davy. And also illustrates Bailey's preternatural talent at waiting out the pitch and then snatching it as his glove moves upward into the zone.
  9. We offer this feature so it's easy to see how much a reliever has worked in the past seven days. Yellow is throwing 1-19 pitches and red means they threw 20+ pitches on a night. You can also find this link under the Resources link roll at the top of the forum index page. https://padresmission.com/san-diego-padres-bullpen-usage/
  10. Exactly. He was never a good fit at first base, though the Padres don't have anyone who is...
  11. It seems like a gimme that he'll perform better on a WAR-per-at-bat basis if he's playing at second regularly. He graded as a slight negative there in 2024 but the innings were limited. I think he continues to bounce back after bottoming out in 2023.
  12. We're just getting rolling here... funnily enough, this is my seventh baseball site but the first that I've started from scratch since 2005. Twenty years! If you have questions about literally anything, please PM me any time or @Brock Beauchamp me to notify me to look at something. And if you have something to say here in the forums, please start a thread and/or comment on an existing thread!
  13. I think this is a very well-written piece from one of our writers over on the Red Sox side of things. Major League Baseball Takes Arms in Donald Trump’s Culture War - Red Sox - Talk Sox TALKSOX.COM In an act of anticipatory obedience, Major League Baseball quietly deleted all references to diversity from its website.
  14. Getting Pivetta was a nice move, especially considering the budget, but it's hard to see a path forward beyond 2025. So I guess win it all this season?
  15. I really like this piece. The Tokyo Series was wildly successful and while it will be hard to replicate the intensity of Japanese fans, MLB needs to start tapping into more international markets that love baseball. The Tokyo Series Proves That MLB Needs to Expand Its International Reach - Twins - Twins Daily TWINSDAILY.COM For the second consecutive season, Major League Baseball opened their regular season with an international Opening Day for two clubs. For the second consecutive season, it was a...
  16. Thanks for reminding me I need to reset the reputation...
  17. As for me: why am I starting this site? I live in Minnesota and consider myself a "Twins fan" but spent many of my formative years living in Escondido. The 98 Padres were the team that got me back into baseball after a four-year hiatus following the strike. I went to the last game at the Murph and one of the first games in Petco. While I'm a fan of multiple teams, the Padres are a core component of my baseball experience and I'm thrilled to finally take this step.
  18. Welcome to an all-new Padres analysis and news site! Along with starting a new forum for fans of the San Diego Padres, we will now provide fans with thoughtful articles from fellow Padres fans and writers. It is all part of an ongoing effort to create a one-stop-shop, a community for passionate Pads fans. So, what can you look for and expect from the front-page articles of Padres Mission? To answer that, I’d like to encourage you to click on our sister site, Twins Daily, for what you might see over time from some of your favorite Padres writers. Here is what you may find over time: Deep statistical analysis on a player or topic. For those who enjoy looking into baseball's many advanced statistics, some articles may help provide reasons for team or managerial decisions, situational analysis, and more. Minor league articles. The plan is to have daily minor league reports on the Padres affiliates throughout the minor league season. You will see how the teams did, how the players performed, some highlights, and more. In addition, we will provide prospect rankings and more. Player profiles on major-league players or minor league players. As relationships are developed, we hope to do some player interviews and stories. Maybe there will be stories on current minor leaguers, big leaguers, or even former big leaguers who call San Diego home. News articles from the day. If a player gets hurt, we will try to analyze how the front office will adjust the roster and maybe how the manager will alter lineups, rotations, roles, etc. Trade or free agent analysis. Draft coverage before, during, and following the MLB Draft. Historical articles digging into some of the great (or not-so-great) Padres teams since the formation of the team in 1969. But the history of baseball in San Diego is long and filled with interesting topics and stories. Video! In the coming days, we’ll roll out our video section, which will feature short videos about Padres major and minor league players. We are not looking to duplicate Twins Daily. We want to add to that community and provide more options for Padres fans to connect to their favorite team. The articles, much like the writers, will likely evolve, and that’s a good thing. What if I want to write for Padres Mission? That’s a great question. I’m glad you asked. First, feel free to reach out to email at brock.beauchamp@padresmission.com or contact any of the other writers and express interest. But, you will also note that the user blogs page is still there. If you’ve ever wanted an audience for your Padres takes, this is the perfect place. We will frequently be monitoring the blogs, and if we see quality writing and interesting topics, we may reach out to you about writing on the front page. It is also noteworthy that we will be paying our front-page article writers. It’s certainly not enough to quit your day job. So don’t do that. However, it might be enough to show that we value your time, talent, and effort. We ask that you support our writers by clicking on their articles, reading them, and leaving comments, questions, and feedback on the topics. This is just an extension of the forums and another means of enjoying following the Padres. I am seriously looking forward to knowing much more about the Padres, their farm system, and more. You can also follow Padres on X and Facebook. View full article
