The Arizona Fall League, a showcase for key prospects for all 30 MLB teams, just wrapped up its first full week of action and the eight San Diego Padres players participating had some nice performances.

The 30 MLB teams send players that are split among the six AFL teams. Padres prospects play for the Peoria Javelinas, who call the Friars' minor-league and spring training complex home. The other teams supplying players to the Javelinas are the Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners and St. Louis Cardinals.

Each week, we will take a look back at how the Padres' prospects fared.

Ty Harvey, C

Making up for time lost due to a pair of injuries in the regular season for the Low-A Lake Elsinore Storm, the 2025 fifth-round draft choice has had a mixed bag of success. The 20-year-old catcher, Padres Mission's No. 5 prospect, has gone just 1-for-13, but he has walked six times, which makes for an odd-looking .077/.368/.077 slash line in five games. When on base, Harvey has continued what the Storm did during the regular season: run. He has a team-high five stolen bases. He had nine in 57 regular-season games. Those five steals include three in one game and have contributed to Harvey scoring four runs.

Justin DeCriscio, SS

The 10th-round draft choice in 2025, who played at three levels including at Double-A San Antonio this year, went 2-for-14 with a double and three RBIs in four games. He has walked three times, was hit by a pitch and stolen a base. DeCriscio has started twice at shortstop and twice at second base.

Alex McCoy, OF

The breakthrough prospect in the Padres' system this season, the 24-year-old outfielder got off to a quick start in the AFL. Padres Mission's No. 8 prospect, signed as an undrafted free agent in 2025, homered in the first AFL game of the season and is 4-for-16, also notching a double with five RBIs. McCoy's homer was a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth inning and was a no-doubter 420-foot shot with a 110.6 mph exit velocity. It came on a 2-2 slider that was middle out. McCoy also had a big game Friday, when he went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two stolen bases. He has four steals in the five games he has played.

Winyer Chourio, RHP

The soon-to-be 23-year-old is looking to put his second-half struggles at High-A Fort Wayne in the rear-view mirror. He certainly took a good step forward in his first AFL start. The right-hander, Padres Mission's No. 17 prospect, went three shutout innings, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out one. He also hit a batter. That one strikeout came against Kevin Flewelling (Tampa Bay Rays), who was the MVP of the Futures Game, on a nice curveball. But Chourio also sent a murmur through the stands as he reached 96.7 mph on his four-seamer. He induced five groundball outs to just one in the air.

Igor Gil, LHP

The left-handed reliever made two appearances, one good and one not so good. In his first game, the 25-year-old came on with a runner on first and two outs in the bottom of the fourth against Scottsdale. Perhaps it was nerves, but Gil gave up a stolen base and threw a wild pitch, then issued a walk before yielding back-to-back doubles to Dax Kilby (New York Yankees) and Demetrio Crisantes (Arizona Diamondbacks), resulting in three runs total, two his responsibility. Gil came back out for the fifth and struck out the first batter before exiting. The next outing was much smoother. That was a perfect fourth inning with a ground-out and two fly-outs.

Kannon Kemp, RHP

The right-handed starter is also looking to make up for lost time and is in the AFL for the second year in a row. The 22-year-old eighth-round draft choice in 2023 started 2026 on the injured list with a strained left oblique. He returned to appear in 12 games, nine for High-A Fort Wayne. Kemp made two starts this week, including the opener. He went 1⅔ innings in that game, striking out three while allowing a run on four hits with a walk. Facing Mesa again in his second start, Kemp went three innings, getting tagged for four runs on four hits with no walks and three punchouts. He gave up a homer and had a wild pitch.

Francis Pena, RHP

The 25-year-old right-handed reliever was rewarded for a very nice season at Double-A San Antonio with a trip to the AFL, his second time in the league after six games in 2023. This time has begun much better; Pena made two appearances, each going a scoreless inning. He allowed a walk and had a strikeout in the first game against Mesa, then gave up a pair of hits against Scottsdale. That game included this tremendous play.

Jordan Valenzuela, RHP

Another arm to keep an eye on next year, the 21-year-old right-handed reliever made his AFL debut with a pair of one-inning appearances. Against Salt River, Valenzuela gave up two runs on three hits while not allowing a walk nor notching a strikeout. He bounced back against Glendale with a scoreless outing, striking out two while walking one and hitting another. He finished the season at Low-A Lake Elsinore.
