Financially, it makes sense to listen on Pivetta before the Padres have to start paying the fat end of his contract next season. Plus, the Mets' starters kept them out of the playoffs this year, so some of them will have to go to appease the team's disgruntled fans. Senga, Peterson, and Tyler Megill (if he can pass a physical) are available if Mr. Preller is interested. If he trades with the Mets, he should consider getting Mark Viento, who, along with the pitchers, bombed last year. But, even while bombing, he hit 17 homers, and, given a chance, he'll get better. The Padres could use 17 more homers.
