All the years of trading depth and prospects for the star guys is catching up. It's an old team, save for Tatis and Merrill. Not sure how the Padres are going to survive a 162-game gauntlet, but the talent is there to win big.
Nice write up, Randy. Totally agree he adds a new dynamic atop the lineup. Love what the Phillies do with Schwarber, and I think this will be the same for San Diego.
A lot of this is about perception. Cronenworth has never had the bat to be a star first baseman. His slash lines look a whole lot better compared to the Nico Hoerners of the world rather than Pete Alonso.
